Effective January 2020, this course is a prerequisite for officers applying to the Criminal Investigator Certification Program (CICP).

The course is designed for the New Criminal Investigator and will focus on their new role and responsibilities in an investigation. The course will provide practical approaches to overall criminal investigations, witness interviews, suspect interrogations, and preparing a case for successful prosecution. The course will also cover investigative approaches for a wide range of criminal activities, from injury and death investigations, to sex crimes, to financial and other property crimes. Participants will also be involved in practical exercises and review case studies of actual criminal investigations.
